The Long and Winding Road - Part 3

Mar 23, 2025    Owen Mason

In this third installment of The Long and Winding Road, Pastor Owen explores the profound truth that we are created as a three-part being: spirit, soul, and body. Drawing from 1 Thessalonians 5:23, Pastor Owen reminds us that God desires to sanctify our whole being, keeping us blameless until the return of Christ. Through scripture, we’ll journey deeper into the significance of each part of us:

The Spirit is reborn in Christ and is purposed to reflect God’s love and purity (1 Peter 1:22-23, 2 Corinthians 5:17).

The Soul, our mind, emotions, and will, must be continually renewed through the Word of God to align with His perfect will (Romans 12:2, Philippians 4:8).

The Body, while temporary, is a temple of the Holy Spirit, requiring us to honor God through how we live and care for it (1 Corinthians 6:19).

Pastor Owen also emphasizes the unifying power of God's grace as the connective tissue within the body of Christ, making us one people despite our differences (Ephesians 2:8-9). He’ll bring to life Ezekiel 37’s vision of the valley of dry bones, illustrating how God's Spirit brings life and unity, transforming us into a mighty army for His purpose. Lastly, Jesus is portrayed as the Great Physician, calling all who are spiritually sick to come to Him for healing and restoration (Luke 5:31-32). This sermon is a powerful reminder of God's transformative work in us—spirit, soul, and body—as we walk the long and winding road of faith.
