Family Restoration Part 3

“Family Restoration Part 3” explores how discipleship transforms the family through a gradual process of becoming like Christ. It emphasizes that restoration begins when individuals within the family commit to follow Jesus wholeheartedly, just as Simon Peter and Andrew did in Matthew 4:18-20. Jesus calls not just individuals, but families, to a lifestyle of discipleship.

The message highlights three key areas of transformation: our attitude, our actions, and our position.

Our Attitude: Be the Least – True greatness in God’s kingdom begins with humility. Luke 9:46-48 shows Jesus correcting the disciples’ desire for status by pointing to a child as the example of kingdom greatness. Disciples must deny themselves (Matthew 16:24) and prioritize Christ above all else—even family obligations (Matthew 8:21-22).

Our Actions: Be the Servant – Discipleship is not passive but involves action through service. Jesus modeled servant leadership (Luke 22:26-27), challenging followers to lead by humbling themselves. As seen in John 1:43, Jesus personally calls individuals to follow and serve. Within the family, this means putting others’ needs first and leading by example.

Our Position: Be the Slave – The ultimate expression of discipleship is self-sacrificial love. Mark 1:16-18 again shows the call to leave all and follow Christ. Ephesians 5:22-33 teaches that family roles—wives submitting and husbands loving sacrificially—mirror Christ’s relationship with the Church. John 17:23-24 emphasizes unity, reflecting God’s love through family.

Family restoration comes as each member embraces humility, serves selflessly, and adopts Christlike love and submission.
