Breastplate of Righteousness
The “Breastplate of Righteousness” reminds believers that spiritual victory begins with guarding the heart through Christ-centered living. Pastor Owen Mason emphasizes that temptation is a real and ongoing battle, but Scripture assures us that we are “more than conquerors” through Jesus who loves us (Romans 8:37). Victory over temptation does not come from human strength, but from delighting in God’s Word and allowing it to shape our desires and identity (Jeremiah 15:16).
Righteousness is not merely something we receive—it is something we live out daily. Ephesians 6:14 calls believers to put on the breastplate of righteousness, protecting the heart from the enemy’s accusations and schemes. This righteousness flows from abiding in Christ; when His words dwell in us, our prayers, actions, and lives align with God’s will (John 15:7). God Himself models this armor, wearing righteousness as a breastplate (Isaiah 59:17), showing its power and necessity in spiritual warfare.
As followers of Christ, we leave behind a righteous legacy rooted not in our own efforts, but in God’s grace. Scripture makes clear that righteousness cannot be achieved through the law or good works alone (Romans 3:19–20). Instead, righteousness is a gift received by faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 3:21–26). Through Christ’s sacrifice, we are justified, redeemed, and made righteous before God (2 Corinthians 5:21). Living in this truth gives believers confidence in prayer, endurance in trials, and assurance that the Lord upholds the righteous (Psalm 37:17). Wearing the breastplate of righteousness allows us to stand firm, live faithfully, and reign in life through Christ.
