Battling with the Sword - Part 2
In this powerful sermon, we continue our exploration of spiritual warfare in which Pastor Owen started a couple of weeks ago, focusing on the essential tools we need to face the battles of life. Ephesians 6:17-18 calls us to "take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God," emphasizing the importance of prayer and vigilance. The sword of the Spirit, God's Word, is our weapon against the enemy's attacks, and we are reminded to pray at all times, staying alert and persevering for all the saints.
We must recognize that temptations are inevitable, as shown in Matthew 4:1, when Jesus was tempted by the devil. Just as Mark 16:17-18 assures believers that through faith, they will overcome demonic forces and challenges, we too must prepare for spiritual conflict. The enemy seeks to exploit weaknesses, as illustrated by the man with the unclean spirit in Mark 5:2-12, who was tormented and trapped by darkness. The enemy will try to exploit what is most vulnerable in our lives, but through God's Word, we are empowered to break free.
We also explore how the enemy seeks to blind our understanding and lead us into deception, as seen in Ephesians 1:18 and 2 Thessalonians 2:11. Our faith must be active, waking us up to the truth, as described in Hebrews 11:1-3 and Romans 4:3. The enemy may try to seduce us with lies, but we have the power of God's Word to stand firm, keep our understanding clear, and follow His wisdom. This sermon calls us to stand strong in faith, armed with God's truth.
