What Controls God? (Part 4)

Nov 24, 2024    Owen Mason

In the fourth installment of the sermon series "What Controls God?", we explore the profound impact of God's love on our lives. Rooted in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, we learn that love is patient, kind, and selfless—qualities that reflect the heart of God. Love is not driven by selfish ambition but is instead the foundation of all godly actions. As we are called to pursue love (1 Corinthians 14:1), we understand that it should be our priority in life, guiding our thoughts, actions, and relationships.

The sermon highlights that walking in love holds immeasurable value, not only in this life but also in the life to come (1 Timothy 4:8). God’s love, demonstrated through Jesus Christ, teaches us the true meaning of sacrifice and forgiveness, offering us redemption from sin and the promise of eternal life (John 3:16). As believers, we are urged to imitate God's love (Ephesians 5:1-2), extending kindness, forgiveness, and compassion to others, just as God has done for us.

We are reminded of the many benefits of walking in love, from emotional and physical healing (Isaiah 53:4-5) to the daily renewal of our spirits (2 Corinthians 3:18). Love brings intimacy with God, wisdom, peace, and fulfillment (Romans 8:9, Psalm 37:4). The sermon concludes by affirming that God's love never ends and is the driving force that transforms and empowers us to live according to His will.
